What is Mei Is A Curious Month?

Read the small print.

Mei is a curious month is a magazine. A virtual kaleidoscope, broad and strange and giddy as a smile. It’s the everyday giddiness of going up escalators the wrong way, and down stairs three at a time. It’s the small talk, yes I would like a sugar cube yearning of anything on the internet. Chewing gum for the eyes and serotonin on a plate. It’s inevitable, really.

It’s nice.

Isn’t it exquisite - and stupid - how we’re alive? Still.

INTERVIEWS

Hello, how are you?

Hello, how are you?

That’s…nice.

“Girls hunger. And we’re taught, from the moment our brains can take it, that there isn’t enough food for us all.”

- Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand,

I don't think terror goes away by repetition.
I read this again, and I was still chilled.

Scorched by stampeding horses white as marrow,

white as clean sheets and cold terror.

Last time I read this it was my birthday.
And everything was sweet from icing,

and I kept on reading this nightmare of a book.

Did I say it was good?

“He’d left his shoes behind - and that was all that was left - and walked to the beach Callouses on cobblestones. Impish, electric. Damned.”

“My mother wants me back. But she wants a child, a starling, a marionette. It’s just a game, she says, as if it will hurt less.”

“Your thyroid is the butterfly – with the broken wings and the splayed spine. It lives in my throat. It’s so alive. Tell it to still yet it won’t.”

Mei Kawagoe is alive. No further comment.

(I am Mei, like the month and from the movie. Just an indoor kid doing outdoor kid things without keeling over - potentially. This is near enough the inside of my head, on the internet.)

You don’t have to say goodbye just yet.

It’s 360 degrees.
